Tour de Toronto

Another glorious day and I had a ride planned. After breakfast and laundry I headed out to get a taste of Toronto and I did just that. Toronto is a great bike city with one glaring exception which is the tracks for the trolley cars. They run all over the place and are just perfect for taking out a cyclist if you're not careful. Toronto is a great city and the evidence of the peoples ability to influence policy decisions is everywhere. There are bike trails and bike lanes and parks throughout the city and there is a youthful energy that is fun to be around. The Lake and rivers offer their own natural beauty and the architecture is often interestingly blended in.

If not for the winters I could live here. There is a similar feel that you get in Austin but there is something more which comes from not having to always exist within the constraints of the conservative Texas politics that always puts the best interest of the wealthy ahead of the best interest of the citizens. There is a balance that must be found there and here they seem to have found that balance nicely.

I did some fun riding downtown that was very similar to riding in NYC but Toronto is just a nicer city. Still there was enough congestion to make the bike the go to vehicle for getting across the city quickly. Great fun and I got some good videos that I will add to my video journal. The files are just too large to post here. I will add one here though.
