We hung out with some of Henry's many friends and took some great bike rides in the city and the Pallisades. One night, coming out of his apartment we witnessed a bit of parking magic which I still don't understand as we only saw her get out of her car having just completed the seemingly impossible feat. Her response when asked how she did it was simply,"I've lived here since 2005."
Monday morning it was raining which was fine because we drove north of the city to the Putnam county courthouse where Henry took part in an auction to acquire a property that he had foreclosed on. I'm not going into the details here but wow, he sure can put together a deal. The property was pretty cool and after the auction the sun came out and we drove over to see it.
It included a house, a barn and a bar on a running creek with a pond. Wow
On the way back we stopped at TOGA! bike shop. Henry used to work at TOGA! and raced on their team. It was there that he built the bicycle for ten people, the "Tendam", though he actually constructed it in his basement shop. The current owner got very excited when he recognized Henry and it took a while to get out of there which often happens with Henry.
While we were there, Henry bought me a GoPro helmet mounted video camera as Linda suggested so I could video us riding in the streets of Manhattan. The file it creates are huge so it is unlikely I will post them on here but the image quality is amazing. After we got home, we went fot a ride uptown, across the George Washington bridge and up through the Pallisades and back down 9W.
Other adventures continued to unfold including more rides in the city, touring madison avenue, chinatown, little Italy, the financial district, battery park and more but those images are on the gopro. I did snap this short video of a blinged out bike the belongs to a crime scene photographer for the NYPD.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in NYC but it was soon time to once again achieve escape velocity.
