NYC to Queens to Montauk to Orient Point to Connecticut to Westford Mass.
On Wednesday I woke up and drove to Jamaica Queens to get my stuff from Henry's parent's house and while I loaded the car, had a delightful chat with Cassie. I then drove to the tip of Long Island at Montauk for a nice but spirited ride around the seashore, lighthouse and the lake. Montauk offers a nice getaway for the city folk but since it was midweek and the kids are still in school there were no crowds. I ate a great vegetarian lunch and then drove around to the north fork of LI to orient point where I just made it onto the ferry in time for the 1 1/2 hour ride to New London CT.
After landing, I had a swift and pleasant drive up to Westford Mass. where my my friends Joe and Betsy were so kind as to offer me a warm welcome and great hospitality. This was another unexpected joy that just came together to provide a great experience. Usually when I am at Joe and Betsy's it is at building science summer camp with 400 of our closest friends so getting to stay here in such a laid back and peaceful time was special. Joe and Betsy are very important people in my life and my career would be very different if not for them. I will spare you getting too mushy about it but they will never truly know what a difference they have made in my life and this opportunity to spend time with them in a relaxed setting was a special gift.
