I started the day early so I could watch the park awaken. It would be a big day in the end. After an overnight rain the skies dawned clear and bright. I took my time exploring the roads and at Logan Pass I hiked the four miles to hidden lake and back.
This is a Hoary Marmot.
He seems unperturbed by his elderly friend.
Spot the Mountain Goat. I took this shot with the Iphone through the lens of my binoculars.
These cyclists paid a tour company $3,000 for a 6 day bike trip around the park. Whoa!
Lots of these open top tour buses.
Typical water meets land shot in any given lake up here.
I found myself on the far side of the park where I had planned a hide to Grinnel Glacier for the next day and even though it was an eleven mile hike and it was already 2pm and I was 2 hours from my camp I decided what the heck and grabbed one water bottle and took off at a brisk pace. I'm so glad for the fitness that allows me to do this stuff.
The challenge here was keeping the Iphone dry.
Bighorn Sheep sparring on the snow bank.
Grinnel Glacier will be gone in a few more years but is beautiful in it's final days.
Boys will be boys. When the mom jumped in, I felt old but warm and dry made up for the feeling of old age.
Nice end to the day.
The beauty is breath taking. Just on the other side of the border at Waterton is a great hike called Crypt Lake hike. That whole area is amazing. Glad you can enjoy it. -Marty
