Portland Day 2 Peak's Island

On Friday, we set out without a plan and in the lobby, we ran into a couple that I had been running into since first arriving in Portland. Bill and Judy said they were going out to ride on Peak's Island at 12:15 if we wanted to join them. We set off to explore a little on the tandem and after doing a little shopping and eating some ice cream at Mt Desert Island Ice Cream we decided a trip to the island sounded like fun so we got to the pier just in time to board the ferry.

After a nice lunch we took off around the small island. The east and south sides had great views and we did a few times around before heading back to the mainland. Later a sushi dinner was our first departure from the lobster pattern.

This is livin' folks. After dinner we wandered around Portland and it is really a great little town.

I think there is as much hippy funk here as Austin has ever known and it has a pretty good feel to it. If only winter wasn't so hard. I'm thinkin' this global warming thing might have an upside.
